The Official Label of Farmer Veterans

Homegrown By Heroes (HBH) is the official farmer veteran branding program of America, administered nationally by FVC. It certifies ranchers, farmers, and fisherman of all military eras to sell their product as veteran owned and produced. The label informs consumers that agricultural products donning the logo were produced by U.S. military veterans, and it allows veterans to differentiate their farm and ranch products in the marketplace.

DATCP’s Something Special from Wisconsin (SSfW) program has teamed up with Homegrown by Heroes to make a differentiated logo for veterans to place o​n ​their agricultural products. Usage of this logo is a collaborative effort between DATCP and the WI Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)​.

Are You Eligible?

The Homegrown by Heroes (HBH) Logo is available to:

  • Veterans of any branch of the U.S. Military from all service eras–including those currently serving
  • Those who received a characterization of service of ‘Honorable’ or ‘General (Under Honorable Conditions)’ upon discharge
  • Agribusinesses and farming operations that maintain a minimum of 50% veteran ownership and a minimum of 50% veteran management control
  • Value-added products that contain a minimum of 50% non-water ingredients produced by an HBH-certified producer

The combined Something Special from WI and HBH Logo is available to:

  • Active Members of Something Special from WI program
  • Veterans of any branch of the U.S. Military from all service eras–including those currently serving
  • Those who received a characterization of service of ‘Honorable’ or ‘General (Under Honorable Conditions)’ upon discharge
  • Agribusinesses and farming operations that maintain a minimum of 50% veteran ownership and a minimum of 50% veteran management control
  • Value-added products that contain a minimum of 50% non-water ingredients produced by an HBH-certified producer

How Can You Apply?

First, certify your eligibility as a qualified Veteran by EITHER enrolling in the Farmer Veteran Coalition

If you want the Something Special from WI/ HBH logo, then you need to enroll in the Something Special From Wisconsin Program.  You do not need to enroll in this program if you only want the HBH logo without the SSFW addition.
